The funny things Abby says

Well I keep forgetting to post all the funny things my girl has been saying- and believe me there are a ton of them. She's a silly girl. But I have 2 I do want to post...

Last night as I was grating cheese for enchiladas she wanted to help. I let her grate some cheese, when she was done she started to take a bite out of the cheese. I told her I didn't know what household she grew up in where it was okay to bite cheese from the block, she replied, "yes you do, Grandpa Bob's house". FTR- Grandpa Bob does not bite cheese from the cheese block.

Today when she came home from school she said, "Guess what mom, President Monson moved out and we have a new President, we watched it down in the library today and the singer was terrible" I had to explain the different Presidents to her- and the terrible singer comment just made me laugh.

Glasses, oh my!

It's surprising when I have better than perfect vision, and Ernie has slightly imperfect vision (only a slight prescription for reading), that Abby would need glasses at age 5. She's had a few vision screenings and has been inconsistent with the results. After the second one I decided to just go get it tested at the optometrist. He said she has about 20/100 in the right eye, and 20/50 in the left eye. Yep severe farsightedness, with a good chance of lazy eye because of the significant difference in eyes. We are actually going to a pediatric specialist later this month and then we'll get the glasses after he sees her. Abby seems pretty excited, she's already picked out a cute pair of purple frames!

I really want to post all my pictures, they are soo good. Aubrey did an amazing job, and I just love them. I'll post more as time goes on, but here are 5 for today!

BINGO

One rainy day, Abby and I had nothing to do. Being the brilliant mom I am, decided to make Abby practice her writing. Usually she'll have nothing to do with it, but when we decided to make BINGO cards, it was great. Later we invited Nataya and Ashton over for a game and enjoyed the candy.

Abby, Abby, Abby

So EVERYTHING Abby says is the funniest thing in the world, truly she makes me laugh everyday. I've been really bad at writing them down and remembering them. Here are a few fom this week!

Abby likes to come into our bed in the middle of the night. One night she was kind of awake, and I was just getting to bed. I asked her why she has to come in our bed, she replied, "I just can't help it" Can you blame her, snuggling with mom is much better than snuggling with her Aunt.

Then we were all wrestling on the bed a few days later. I was calling Abby a stinker for tickling me and she replied, "I'm the boss of all stinkers!" Yes she is!

Abby's Music Observation

Have I ever told you guys how much I love Abby's preschool. Well I love it. The best part are the "specials". Among a million other best parts. Abby loves each and every one of them- Music, Drama, Science, and Library. We watched the kids earlier in the year during the music observation, this one was great. It's so fun to watch your child progress and grow. I'm certainly going to miss her preschool and girls in her class when the school year's over. But it's been so great for Abby.

Abby and Stone holding hands. She once told me that maybe when she's a teenager, and Stone's a teenager they can be boyfriend and girlfriend. Obviously she knows she has to be 16.

Here is Abby and Matthew, they were so cute. A little later they paired up boy/girl and did a little dance. When they switched partners Abby got to dance with Nia, because there were more girls. She loved it.

And of course my cute little one. She sings this really cute lullaby she learned in music. It melts my heart to hear her sing, she is my little one. I'll really try to get Abby to sing on camera. She's adorable!

Happy Birthday Abby!

Abby was happy as a clam to turn 5! We celebrated her 5th birthday on April 25, boy how the time flies. Means we must be having fun! Abby was a little spoiled this year, she got a set of ponies, and bug tent hideout, and a pet Gerbil.

We set up the cute pink cage the night before. She woke up with the presents on her bed. I don't think she really knew what to expect with the cage. But she LOVED opening the presents. We made cupcakes for school the night before and finished decorating them. We took the cage to the school because the Gerbil was a baby from a class pet (and FREE). Abby suddenly got so excited, and couldn't wait to get to school. Abby's new little one is Snowflake Sophie. She's a pretty little Princess Gerbil. Only pink would do for my princess!


After school she went to the park with her friends, Ashton and Nataya. Then we went to the park with some schhol friends to work on teacher art projects. We had some yummy chinese takeout and spent some good times with our friends. Abby kept saying all day, "I can't believe I'm 5" She's so cute!

Don't mind the do-rigged-contraption. She had to wear it to demonstrate what would really happen if she were doing the study. I do wish I had a BIGGER picture of her, in the paper it was bigger, but online it is so small.

"What the H?"

So randomly the other day when Abby was hanging out at work with me she said, and I QUOTE, "What the H?" I just about busted up laughing so hard. The funny things they pick up on.

You're the boss

So Abby has been a mailman (or mailperson) for two days now. She woke me up this morning and said, "Boss, we better get up or the paper will be late" even though the paper is not delivered by the mailman. Later she said, "Boss, I'm going to ride around the city (on her Dora scooter)". She then proceeded to go in circle after circle around our coffee table until I was dizzy and had to ask her to stop. She is hilarious, she's been calling me boss all day long instead of Dad.

ALMOST FAMOUS!

So of course I think Abby is a super cute babe, and is as cute, if not cuter than most kids on TV or in Magazines. I had one friend beg me to put her in the "business".

Abby however just doesn't have the personality for it. And I really don't want to expose Abby to that anyway.

But my boss at work needed a kid for his commercial and they asked me to use Abby. I said I would have to ask her, and she said NO. I couldn't bribe her with anything. She kept saying, "I don't want to be on TV".

That's okay.

A blast from the past!

I found these pictures on the computer the other day and just thought I'd share! Abby was about 7 months old:

HELP!

So Abby is sick, again. Well sort of- She has a cough, and during the night wakes up with really high fevers (last night topped 103.1). But during the day she is happy, full of energy and no fever...

This same thing happened just after Thanksgiving. 3 nights in a row. Currently she has had 2 nights.

The worst thing is that she can't go to school, which means I can't go to work. Ern usually can help out but he is stuck in the middle of finals this week. And I only had 3 personal days in my first 90 days- so right now I'm even unpaid.

Do I take her to the doctor? (also no insurance, dang those 90 days) I would if I really knew there was something they could do. But I hate to pay the money just for them to say- "it's only a virus".

Any words of advice?

On a postive note, my house is super shiny- I've done tons of cleaning. And I was needing a vacation from work.

Guess who finally learned her Primary part?

Last Sunday on the way to church, Abby blurted out, "Mom, I know my primary part, but I don't want to say it on the stage". Then she proceeded to say it "My faith in Jesus Christ grows when I follow His example and keep His commandments". And she helped me practice. So this was exciting, considering the program was 2 weeks ago. However I was really surprised because she never practiced it at home.

On a less positive note, Abby was terrible this weekend. She threw 2 of the worst temper tantrums ever. On was Saturday it was at the grocery store. Then today we went out the Shaker Ward for a baby blessing. At least it was at the end of Sacrament. We just decided to go home. Man it was a tough weekend.

In the end she calmed down. Spent an hour grounded on her bed, and she was back to her good 'ole self. Man it was good to have Abby back.

Parent teacher Conferences

So this is totally a "I'm bragging about my GREAT kid" post. Ern and I went to our first parent teacher conference today. Her teacher, Ms. Wisniewski had nothing but excellent things to say about Abby- she's such a great helper, listener, friend, kind to others, leader, role model, etc... She said last week when Abby was gone everyone missed her. She said Abby cheers her up when she's feeling a little down (in tune to others feelings). And she has never been in trouble at school. When I told Ms. Wiskiewski she throws tantrums at home she was super surprised.

Here's her note: "We thoroughly enjoy having Abby in class. She is a wonderful little girl. Abby has adjusted to the school routine in a positive manner and enjoys her time spent here. Abby is always willing to help out around the classroom and is always kind to others. We will continue to help Abby form the social skills needed to initiate peer interaction and to resolve conflicts with peers independently."

I guess she's not perfect, she does need some help initiating play with others, a lot of times she'd just rather play by herself, I think it might come from being an only child and playing by herself so much at home. But if others invite her then she'll happily play with them (good thing she's everyone's best friend!). Also we've been working at home and now at school about problem solving with friends on our own.

So we've always known we've had such a special daughter. She really is so cool. It's so good to hear it from other people and confirm that we are doing what's right as parents and teaching (and sticking)her good values.



Abby, we love you. You are a beautiful daughter and I cherish all my time with you. I'm really lucky to be your mom, and I know dad feels the same way too. I hope we can continue to raise you as a choice daughter of our Heavenly Father. Thank you for beng a really cool kid.

Update on Abby

So Abby's a normal girl today! No throwing up, no "headich", no fever.

She ate pizza, cake, and a bite of brownie. (That's really sticking to the BRAT diet)

She took a long nap but has been playing all day and driving daddy crazy!

She'll go back to school tomorrow, then she's off for a week to hang with Grandma Beck!

On a cute note, Abby asked me how her room got so clean, I told her I cleaned it, she was very appreciative and kissed me!

Sick BABY!

I took Abby to the ER today. She bumped her head pretty good last night. Then today at school complained of a headache and then started throwing up, and had a mild fever. I was afraid for a concussion. I think she's okay. They checked her out and didn't find any red flags, but said to keep an eye on her and bring her back if she doesn't improve in 2 days or gets worse. She still hasn't really kept anything down. She just ate a little bit of rice and some grapes, we'll see how long that stays in her. Poor thing, just can't stay well.

Update: She didn't keep her grapes or rice down, and then she wanted to eat again. She's finally asleep on the couch.

I ended up cleaning her room because Grandma's coming and staying in there- she did get out of that one! She does need to get better because we have a busy weekend planned- the circus, birthday party, carnival and Niagara Falls!

Scripture Power!

We had the missionaries over for dinner tonight, during dessert, Abby disappeared. Then she came back and said "Mom, I turned on the computer with scripture power". The Elders thought it was funny, as did we. We did sing "Scripture Power" in Primary today, and Abby still has her power.

Speaking of Primary... I was in there today as a substitute, and I just have to say how impressed I am with how good Abby has done. When she started Primary I was the President and she wanted to sit on my lap the whole time, she never sang and hardly participated. Today she stayed with her class the whole time (well behaved may I add) and she also passed off her second Article of Faith, she sang it to the Primary. I didn't even know she knew the first one. It was really cute and I almost cried. Then Eric got up and passed his Third Article of Faith, 4 year olds amaze me!
